I personally think it should be removed and not being an option due to the decrease in efficiency. It seems to be split on the alcohol added in the gas. A lot of these environmental regulations just don't make sense when you look at the whole picture.but somebody is probably making a lot of money off of them. Alcohol free gas lets me avoid all the damage to carburetors and other fuel system components caused by the alcohol too. I know from calculating fuel mileage on every tank in my old 2001 Cherokee that I got 10% better fuel mileage and a noticeable increase in power when burning alcohol free gas when I could find it. It would be interesting to see some actual data on how the increased fuel economy and longer engine/vehicle life, due to less of a load on the engine, affect the environment and how much that might offset the effect of dirtier exhaust gases.
